Kato-san, The President of the Sendai YMCA International Hotel and Pastry School, shares video messages from the three graduating Taylor Anderson Memorial Scholarship students who we were able to visit with last April. He reports that Mio, Mana and Kaede will start their new life soon as they all will start jobs at prestigious Japanese hotels! The students report in English as they continue to study and improve their English language skills.

Kato-san also shares that Endo-san, TAMF adviser and Taylor bunko bookshelf maker, will dedicate their new Taylor Anderson Reading Corner (Taylor bunko) later this month. Endo-san recently completed a Taylor bunko for Kokoro Smile, a student and parent support organization in Ishinomkaki. Endo-san tells us that the design for the Kokoro Smile bunko was in simple form because it sits under the window. The two bookshelves on each side are meant for the US and Japan. The bookshelf in the middle is a symbol of Taylor connecting them. His designs are always so meaningful and we look forward to sharing the design for the Sendai YMCA in our next report!
Many of the students need scholarships to attend the Sendai YMCA International Hotel and Pastry School because of economic hardships, some caused by the 2011 Japan Earthquake and Tsunami, and lately because of the pandemic they lost the chance to work after school. The Sendai YMCA and TAMF provide these scholarships jointly.
Thank you for the support you have given these students. It is your help which makes it possible for them to pursue their chosen careers.
