Updates on GEANCO Leadership Scholarship for Girls
By Afam Onyema | Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer
There may be no greater gift we can give the young women of Nigeria than preparing them to succeed in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math).
Thanks to a generous grant from the UK-based engineering firm Smiths Group, we are providing girls (and large cohorts of boys) throughout the country with inspiring mentorship from STEM trailblazing women; hands-on workshops on AI, virtual reality, drone assembly, robotics & 3D printing; team-building exercises & competitions, and so much more.
We have also created and made available online hundreds of STEM lessons that students across Nigeria can access anytime, anywhere, and at no cost!
These brilliant teens will play an indispensable role in crafting a brighter, more hopeful future for us all!!

Updates on GEANCO Leadership Scholarship for Girls
By Afam Onyema | Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Our scholarship girls continue to thrive. They attend Brightland Academy in southeast Nigeria, Baptist High School in northern Nigeria and Lightway Academy in the capital of Abuja, and Fruitful Vines in southwest Nigeria.
Our scholarship girls attending partner schools in Abuja and Jos joined over 150 other students in participating in our very first Mental Health Summit for Teens, which took place at Lightway Academy and was keynoted by the Duke & Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan.
We are also delighted to announce that received a $240,000 grant from the Smiths Groups Foundation to hold three STEM education summits for girls and boys in Ibadan, Abuja and Enugu from July through August. We are also creating online STEM lessons that will be generally accessible to underprivileged students in Nigeria.

Our scholarship girls continue to thrive. They attend Brightland Academy in southeast Nigeria, Baptist High School in northern Nigeria and Lightway Academy in the capital of Abuja, and Fruitful Vines in southwest Nigeria.
We continue to be grateful to the Archewell Foundation for supporting our girls’ education by donating school supplies to our girls. They also donated thousands of feminine hygiene products to girls & young women in Nigeria. Our GEANCO team distributed the products at special menstrual health workshops we organized at schools and health clinics throughout the country. This urgent work provided the girls with critically-important information about their bodies and will allow them to remain in school during their periods.
We are also delighted to announce that we recently received a $240,000 grant from the Smiths Groups Foundation to hold three STEM education summits for girls and boys througout Nigeria this year. We will also create online STEM lessons that will be generally accessible to underprivileged students in Nigeria.
