REPORT OF THE PROJECT SCHOLARSHIP FOR POOR GIRLS TO STUDY NURSING
Reporting period of the project :
Upto 19th March 2017
Project objective:
This project is to provide scholarships to 60 girls to study the nursing course in St. Mary's School of Nursing organized by Women for Women (WFW). Progress made upto this point of time WFW has made available books, notebooks and uniforms to the students. They are staying in the Hostel. We provide food also.
The needs that have not been fulfilled relate to the following:
- Payment of examination fees
- Purchase and distribution of training materials
- Regarding one more essential need –
- Hostel expenses – WFW has been
upto this date managing to meet this need. But, it is very important that funds are raised as early as possible to meet this partially fulfilled need.
Women for Women & GlobalGiving
With the tie up developed with Global Giving & individual donors, the 60 beneficiary girls have been able to join and study a professional Diploma Course in Nursing in St. Mary's School of Nursing organized by Women for Women that has been initiated for the specific purpose of helping educated young girls from poor families to study a professional course and thereby earn a sustainable livelihood. With the donations provided by individual donors through the relationship that Women for Women has established with Global Giving, it has become possible to make changes in the lives of 60 young girls enrolled to study the nursing course.
Impressions of WFW
The organizers are satisfied about the academic performance of the beneficiary girls till date. They have been doing their level best in their studies; participate in health promotion and disease prevention activities initiated in the neighborhood villages. The mothers of the girls and other family members have been observed to be lending all possible support to the girls in their endevour. On their part, the beneficiary girls have been found to have been sharing their experiences with other younger girls in their communities and by doing this they have become role models in their respective villages.
Thanks giving
WFW hereby makes it known to all philanthropic individual donors for their contributions that have made it possible for 60 girls studying nursing diploma course to meet some of their essential needs. The girls and their parents also have expressed their very many thanks to the generosity of the individual donors.
