BOSANA FOUNDATION

Scholarship and Professional Development Program

Quarterly Report

January - March 2024

Executive Summary:

Welcome to our first quarterly report of 2024! We are excited to kick off the new year by extending our heartfelt gratitude to all our supporters who play a vital role in the success of Bosana programs. Your unwavering support fuels our mission, and we are truly grateful for your dedication.

In this report, we are excited to provide you with updates on our scholarship program and the latest news from our students. Bosana is proud to maintain its collaboration with BAPA on a scholarship program for Bosnian-American students. Dive into this report to discover more about our students and other exciting updates. Thank you for being a part of our journey!

Students and Program Update:

During the first quarter of the year, our students faced exam season, and we are proud to report that the majority of Bosana students were well-prepared and achieved rewarding results. With the new semester starting shortly after, our students are now setting their sights on new goals.

This year, InfoBip generously supported Bosana students by donating laptops to four lucky recipients, providing valuable assistance in their exam preparation process.

Additionally, for the third consecutive year, Bosana partnered with BAPA to award a scholarship to a distinguished leader in the Bosnian-American community. In 2024, BAPA celebrates its ninth year of recognizing high-achieving Bosnian-American students who make significant contributions to their communities. The BAPA Scholarship is designed to support Bosnian-American students in navigating the educational system and advancing their professional aspirations. In addition to the scholarship sponsored by the Bosana Foundation, BAPA is offering four additional $5,000 scholarships. The application period closed in April, and the new scholarship recipients will be announced in May 2024.

Highlights of the quarter:

These are just a few examples of the remarkable accomplishments of our students, and we are incredibly proud of their dedication and achievements.

  • Our alumna, Lejla, graduated from Nottingham Trent University with an MA in Youth Work Leadership and Practice, receiving recognition for her outstanding contribution to the student experience.
  • Serifa applied to a Ph.D. program this year and was also promoted to the role of Teaching Assistant, demonstrating her commitment to both learning and sharing knowledge.
  • Amina completed her master's studies at the Department of Management at the School of Economics and Business, University of Sarajevo, focusing on financial management and researching interest rate risk in banks in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
  • Denis, a former student, and one of the youngest recipients of a master's degree in genetics in BiH, continues to receive awards for his photography, with his work being recognized most recently by National Geographic.
  • Former scholarship recipient Sajdin chose to give back to his community by supporting a current Bosana student through a laptop donation, benefiting Amina, a civil engineering student. This is what Amina had to say: "As a civil engineering student, I work extensively with programs such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Excel, etc. Therefore, I will predominantly use the laptop for college work. I am grateful to have been chosen for this donation and I would like to thank Sajdin".

 BOSANA at the JobFair Tuzla

The most effective way to ensure that our message about our scholarship program resonates is to have it conveyed by someone who has successfully completed the same program.

In March, our esteemed alumna, Milena, collaborated with current Bosana students Aida, Amina, and Majra to deliver a compelling presentation on Bosana programs at JobFair Tuzla. Their voyage from various cities to Tuzla to represent the Bosana Foundation at this event epitomizes the deep gratitude and aspiration of our students to motivate others.

If their presentation has sparked the interest of even one young mind, it signifies a successful mission in promoting education and empowerment.

Students for Humanity:

"Students for Humanity" is a collaborative fund created by scholarship recipients from the Bosana Foundation. Each student donates 2 KM per month, with Bosana matching their contributions. This initiative is backed by both current and former students, enhancing the impact of this meaningful event.

The partnership between the Bosana Foundation and Homework HUB has led to further positive changes. Bosana students can utilize the shared space for studying and attending workshops. To express gratitude for this opportunity, students have chosen to assist their peers studying in the same space. Through the "Students for Humanity" initiative, four annual memberships worth 100.00 BM each have been donated to four regular HUB members.
