A TESTIMONY WITH SOUL
By Hospital Pablo Tobon Uribe | Hospital Pablo Tobon Uribe
Katherin is a pediatric patient who was brought to our Hospital’s emergency room when she weighed 32 kilograms due to malnutrition caused by other health difficulties that prevented her from ingesting food. The patient was admitted with the aim of conducting timely exams in order to identify the corresponding pathology. One week later, Katherin was diagnosed with achalasia, a disease that hinders food and fluids from passing through the esophagus. Therefore, the patient underwent two surgical procedures, a laparoscopic Heller myotomy and a laparoscopic Toupet fundoplication, both conducted on October 5, 2021. Currently, Katherin thanks the Hospital for the timely assistance provided by all the staff who were part of her treatment: “The nurses and doctors were checking on me all the time. They were really nice to me and that made me feel very comfortable over my entire stay at the Hospital.” The patient has recovered her ability to ingest food with medical indications, and her health condition has been improving thanks to the timely detection and treatment. “After the surgery, I started having liquid food and, a week later, I began having some solid food too. Right now, the food is passing through nicely, so I have been able to eat without any problems,” stated Katherin. Testimonies like this one are a source of motivation for us to keep serving each one of our patients.

A new oportunity
By Hospital Pablo Tobon Uribe | Hospital Pablo Tobon Uribe
Álvaro, a patient of our Hospital, sought the assistance of our
Emergency Room service due to a sharp abdominal pain and digestive
bleeding that caused him to faint. After the assessment and diagnosis
carried out by our specialists and by means of a colonoscopy, it was
found that the cause of Álvaro’s condition was a tumor located in his
right colon, which was considerably damaging his quality of life.
For this reason, Álvaro underwent a laparoscopy procedure that
allowed performing a hemicolectomy, which consists in surgically
removing part of the colon with the purpose of solvingthe patient’s
problem. This surgical intervention was greatly successful thanks to the
interdisciplinary work of our gastroenterology specialists.
The patient was discharged two days after the surgery, which represents
a significantly shortrecovery time period for this type of pathology. This
is only possible due to the efficiency and precision of the laparoscopy
procedure, which reduces the hospital stay time and guarantees
excellent results.
Álvaro has stated his deepest gratitude to Hospital Pablo Tobón Uribe
for the excellent service provided and the swiftness of the assistance
given throughout the process. The Hospital with Soul maintains its strong
work on striving to achieve the best results for the benefit of the patients,
ensuring effective treatments and high-quality assistance.

Gladys's Testimony
By Hospital Pablo Tobon Uribe | Hospital Pablo Tobon Uribe
Gladys is a patient who came to our Hospital due to severe abdominal
pain that limited her quality of life significantly. When she was evaluated
by our medical staff, she was diagnosed with colon cancer. Through the
laparoscopy procedure, it was possible to provide her with timely
treatment for this pathology, removing the tumor based on the expertise
of our team’s gastrointestinal and endoscopic specialist surgeon.
After the intervention, and thanks to the efficiency of the procedure, it
was possible to discharge her the following day since laparoscopy
procedures reduce the necessary stay time at the hospital.
The patient highlights the good treatment and quality of the service
she received at our Hospital from both the specialist who treated her
and the assistant personnel who assisted her during the procedures and
her subsequent recovery process.
Hospital Pablo Tobón Uribe maintains its purpose of ensuring timely
diagnoses for every patent in order to provide them with agile and
effective treatment.
