COVID-19 lockdown in India and Philippines are causing mass starvation. No Job opportunities for gig workers in long-term lockdown. No income equals to no food for the whole family. Together they suffer from hunger; before COVID-19 devours their lives, hunger is killing them. With the effort of our local partners, we try to deliver Emergency Food Supplies (Rice, Flour, Salt, Soap, etc.) to the vulnerable families like HIV patients, single mothers and homeless, those ignored groups.
Weeks of LOCKDOWN in India and Philippines have caused enormous impact on gig workers and vulnerable communities. For most of them do not have stable income to deal with these sudden change of life. No income equals to no food, which is leading to starvation. Especially for specific groups like HIV patients, single mothers, family with preschool children and infants and homeless who are easily ignored and forgotten in the bailout subsidy. Before COVID-19 devours them, hunger is killing them.
For vulnerable families, 30+ days of hunger is more fearful than COVID-19. Our prime goal to keep them alive first by maintaining their basic life needs in lockdown. Cooperating with local partners, we deliver epidemic prevention supplies packages now in a hurry, including Rice, Oil, Salt, Soap and Milk powder...etc., to those families in need- in India, HIV patients, single mothers, family with preschool children and infants; in Philippines, homeless, migrant workers- to fight hunger first.
In this global outbreak of COVID-19, the one goal we all share in common is Saving more lives. For those 300+ vulnerable families in India and Philippines, they are striving for chances of tomorrow. More than 1,000 lives will be sustained, including frontline workers, elders, infants, women, children, youths and men. Together as ONE WORLD, we fight together in this severe epidemic battle.
