Fundación Estrellita de Belén continues its mission to bring life-saving medical care to children born with congenital heart disease (CHD) in Venezuela—a country where the healthcare system remains in deep crisis. Our work is focused on reaching the most underserved children who otherwise would not have access to the medical interventions they urgently need.
Thanks to support through GlobalGiving and our strategic partnerships, we have:
Coordinated cardiology consultations for over 50 children.
Provided diagnostic tests including echocardiograms, Holter monitors, and lab work.
Delivered life-saving devices and procedures to children in critical need.
Shipped medical supplies and medications directly to families and healthcare centers.
Ensured emotional and logistical support for families during and after interventions.
One of our most impactful collaborations continues to be with Ascardio, a respected cardiology center in Venezuela. Through this partnership, we are able to offer high-quality procedures at a reduced cost, leveraging every donation to maximize lives saved.
Arantza’s Story: A Heartbeat Restored
Arantza, a vibrant young girl from Venezuela, had spent months on a waiting list for a crucial ductus arteriosus closure procedure—a device-based intervention essential for her survival and future health. Her family had exhausted all options. The public health system had no resources available, and private alternatives were entirely out of reach.
When Arantza’s case reached us, our team at Fundación Estrellita de Belén moved quickly. We coordinated with Ascardio, secured the necessary medical device, and fully covered the cost of her procedure thanks to donations received through our GlobalGiving campaign.
Today, Arantza’s heart beats stronger than ever. She is back in school, playing, learning, and smiling. Her story is a testament to what we can achieve when compassion meets action.
Looking Ahead
We are preparing to assist several more children currently on our urgent care list. Each case represents not only a child in medical need, but an entire family holding onto hope.
