Blue legged mantella and rainbow frogs are only found in Isalo Park where they are actually critically endangered due to human pressure especially bushfire. During 3 years, we struggle to protect these species through sensitization of local people. Save the Frogs event is one of activity that we organized in the country to raise awarness of large public. For 2014, we would like to realize it in Isalo with local population and our target group is students from schools surrounding the park.
Rainbow frogs and Blue legged Mantella are critically endangered due to human pressure especially bushfire. However, before EDENa' s sensitization, local people of Isalo do not know their existence inside the park and do not know the importance of its conservation in regional - National and International level. Actually, natural habitat of these frogs are degraded and lack of sensitization on environmental protection reduce considerably their number in the wild.
Save the frogs event 2014 is an opportunity for us to sensitize them by involving young people (student) on our activities for peotry, radio entairtainment and theater contest. This will help us to raise awarness of local population because this is a way to gather more people for this event and in the same time to spread our goal.
As the principal participants in our activities are young people especially student, we hope to instill environmental protection in their life and help them to pay more attention in the biodiversities' richness which are surrounding them.
