Thanks to your donations, we’ve taken a crucial step forward.
Because of your support, we were able to repair Suncokret’s temporary earthquake containers—our only workspace after the June 5, 2025 collapse of the community centre roof. After 4.5 years of waiting for permanent post-2020-earthquake repairs, we still don’t have a safe, stable coomunity center home. These containers, once heavily damaged, are now usable thanks to you.
Despite everything, we never stopped showing up for our community.
Without proper offices or activity rooms, we adapted. When the weather allowed, we worked in the park, outdoors, play grounds and on sports field. Our dedicated youth staff and international volunteers continued visiting the elementary school, delivering engaging presentations for children and youth. We kept our weekly activities running with the day care centres in Vrginmost and Topusko, as well as the retirement home in Glina. With interntional partner organizations, we secured clothing and essential items for families who needed them most.
Suncokret continues to provide free support to children, young people, and the elderly in one of Croatia’s poorest post-war municipalities. A safe space is not just a building—it’s the foundation that allows us to keep communities connected, learning, and cared for.
We’re deeply grateful for every donation and every share. We still have a long road ahead—please keep supporting and spreading the word.
