No child deserves to be abandoned. Every child needs a family and every child needs a home. Help Home of Hope Kenya rescue, care and place every child abandoned in Nairobi slums, streets, garbage, and hospitals into an adopting family, Foster family, reintegrate the child or create a family unit of eight children cared for by a loving couple. Your support gives these children, a place to call home and a family, food, clothing, medical care, education as well as support the caring staff.
Many unwanted babies in slums of Kenya are wrapped up in plastic bags and thrown away in garbage dumps or abandoned in hospitals, streets and slums. Poverty, HIV/Ads and unemployment are major causes of newborn babies being thrown away. When they are picked and brought to the Home of Hope Dream Centre, some are malnourished, some premature or have serious medical complications. The Dream Centre does all it can to provide them with opportunity to live healthy and productive lives.
The babies are referred to us from hospitals, local authorities, communities, picked from streets or dumps. The Dream Centre needs to be well equipped to care for them and place them for adoption, Foster, reintegrate them back to their mothers or create a family Unit where eight of them live together as siblings under the care of a loving couple. Home of Hope Kenya also prevent child abandonment reaching out to pregnant teen girls and single mothers, counseling, training and economic empowerment
In 8 years working with the communities to rescue, care, reintegrate, and support over 1,327 children. They are in Schools and colleges. We have a proactive approach in preventing child abandonment menace in slums by supporting over 330 pregnant teen girls and single mothers with counseling, life skills, business training and giving grants and Microloans for business startups. Several quack abortion clinics have closed down as a result and the teenage girls pregnancy rate has gone down.
