In conflict-affected communities in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, a few minutes can make the difference between life and death. This project provides practical first aid, Basic Life Support (BLS), and CPR training through realistic simulations, helping community members and frontline workers respond quickly to emergencies and save lives.
In conflict-affected areas of eastern DRC, people can face sudden injuries and medical emergencies while professional help may be delayed. Many community members and frontline workers need practical first aid and Basic Life Support skills to act immediately. Without these lifesaving skills, a preventable emergency can become a tragedy.
The project provides hands-on first aid, Basic Life Support, and CPR training through repeated practical exercises and realistic emergency simulations. Participants practice responding to different emergency situations until lifesaving actions become familiar. The goal is to build confidence, faster decision-making, and practical emergency response skills that can be used in homes, communities, and conflict-affected field settings.
Over time, practical first aid and Basic Life Support training can create a stronger culture of emergency preparedness in eastern DRC. Trained participants can carry lifesaving knowledge back to their families, colleagues, and communities. As more people learn how to recognize an emergency and provide immediate care, communities become better prepared to respond before professional medical assistance arrives
