It's fall time here at SACH! And that means that we now have a whole new group of kids and volunteers that are here with us!
A couple of weeks ago, we had an arrival of a group of 10 children from Zanzibar! These children are from one of our partnership countires. This means that children up to the age of 5 years old come to Israel with a guardian. After the age of 5, children come alone. We always say here at Save a Child's Heart that the children are the true heroes because they are the ones that come to a foreign country, with smiles on their faces, because they know it's their second chance at life.
In addition, a nurse escorts the group to Israel. The nurse speaks Swahili, their local language, as well as English, and is therefore able to act as a translator between the children and doctors. In addition, the nurse acts as a mother figure to the children that travel to Israel alone.
During the day, our volunteers come to hang out with the children. They prove to be a distraction and emotional support and of course, have fun with the kids! Our hardworking volunteers create developmentally appropriate activities that need no language at all. Our language here is of play.
Looking forward to greeting our incoming group of children from Zambia in the coming weeks!
