Dear friends,
Building the roof to train children is a really required venue for SANTI. We are having difficulty to conduct the skill training for our teenage students. Thanks for your support to start this dream project. Upon completion, this will be the center for SANTI’s activities. This will help us to bring all activities at one place, maximizing our efforts and time and minimizing various expenses.
Construction of the roof was started on 14th July 2014. Mr Sarat Pati was really excited to start this work with boots on the ground. As of now we have used 3 metric tons of mild-steel rod and 300 bags of cement for concrete. Currently work in progress :) noble work..
Last year January when we estimated the cost to finish the building it was humongous and I personally postponed the idea. Later last year we reevaluated the cost and again postponed. Then this year march, we again re-evaluated the options and realized that we have to move forward. If cannot move a mile then move an inch and hence we broke the project into several pieces.
I asked for an estimate to finish only one room, door, windows, two toilets and a bore well. The estimate was about USD 6424. When we started to work we realized that we have to finish the roof for all rooms and hence our roof got extended to 3000 Sq ft area. This increased our budget to USD 10250. So currently we are planning to finish the roof for the whole building and then finish only one hall or room that will be used for training. In future we will progress through the work to finish all the rooms.
We had to stop the work due to heavy rain in Odisha. It will create about 3 weeks of delay in our progress. The roof slab will be completed within next 4 weeks. We are expecting to use one room for our training around end of October.
As you know Rome wasn’t built in a day or by a couple of man, we need your support to make dream come true. Please step in to contribute as we are falling short on our goal. Any comments or feedback feel free to provide.
Thanks again
Ashok Dandpat
