Young Vanitha, a 10-year-old school student, hails from a small village in India. Her father is a Laborer, working on a daily wage, and her mother is a housewife. For a few months, Vanitha was having problems at school and heeding the advice of her teachers, she was taken to the free eye screening camp. She was examined by the doctor there and was diagnosed with a cataract in both eyes. The doctors performed eye surgery to ensure that she regained her sight.
Vanitha’s impoverished parents were beyond ecstatic. Right from the time they boarded the Sankara Eye Hospital bus till they returned home, everything was free of cost. Post-surgery, Vanitha is back to her cheerful self and she has her goals firmly set on being a teacher when she grows up.
Sankara Eye Foundation is a global healthcare service provider that provides quality eye care to the poor. You too can be a part of this initiative by joining us as a volunteer or a donor or by spreading our message to your friends and collegues.
