Building on our initial success, the project has entered its next phase of expansion. We are committed to ensuring that no girl in Tinkong misses school due to a lack of basic hygiene resources. By integrating consistent supplies with practical education, we are seeing a measurable shift in how students manage their health and academic commitments.
Key Progress Impact
Expanded Education Outreach We successfully scaled our Menstrual Hygiene Education sessions, marking a 25% increase in participation. We have now reached 250 girls across our six partner schools. These workshops remain focused on debunking myths, teaching reproductive health, and building personal confidence. Post-session surveys indicate that 94% of participants now feel fully equipped to manage their periods without anxiety.
Second Round of Sanitary Pad Distribution To maintain the momentum, we completed a new distribution cycle, providing high-quality sanitary pads to our 45 direct beneficiaries. This replenishment ensures that the girls have a reliable three-month supply, removing the financial burden that often leads to school absenteeism.
The Girls’ Closet and Attendance Trends The "Girls’ Closet" initiative continues to serve as a vital safety net.
Impact Analysis
The data confirms a significant trend: since the project’s inception, we have seen a 75% total reduction in menstrual-related absenteeism. This stability allows girls to stay in the classroom during their periods, ensuring they do not fall behind in their studies.
Looking Ahead
These results validate our holistic approach. By combining physical supplies with "safe spaces" and education, we are not just giving out pads; we are protecting a girl's right to an uninterrupted education.
We are incredibly grateful for your continued partnership with United Way Ghana. Together, we are replacing period poverty with dignity and opportunity for every girl in Tinkong.
