Safe Girl is an initiative project,that envisions a world where menstrual products are affordable and accesible to all women and girls in East Afria.
We do this through manufacturing reusable menstrual kits that safe,affordable and accesible to all the women and girls,Additionally,we conduct menstrual awareness campaigns in both schools and communities providung accurate information about menstruation and menstrual hygiene,reproductive health,sanitation and all at large,so that no woman or girl should ever feel ashamed,oppressed, isolated or miss school because they lack what to use during menstruation,or because they lack information to deal with it appropriately.
MISSION:
We aim to lower the cost of menstruation through manufacturing and distribution of reusable menstrual products to adolesent girls and women to proper manage their menstruation.
VISION:
We envision a world where menstrual products are affordable and acessible to all women and girls.
PARTNERSHIPS:
We partnered and collaborated with local and international organisation that enable us make our programs accessible to women and girls around the country.
INTRODUCTION:
I feel delighted to report that 2023 Quater has been a great milestone for SafeGirl Intiative.
We are also Glad to announce that we have made another partnerships two with different organisations and companies that enabled us to reach out to different communities and schools for girls,women and boys with disabilities, through the production of reusable pads,conducting menstrual hygiene campaigns and reproductive health in different parts of Mpigi and uganda.
Activity:
Training on how to make reusable sanitary pads and conduct sessions on menstruation and menstrual hygiene.
Objective of the Activity:
To equip women,girls and boys of different communities in. uganda with the knowledge and skills on how to handle and manage menstruation.
During our activities, we were able to reach out to two Deaf communities and 1 disability community.The activity started with St Anthony school for the deaf primary school,One stop center for the disabled and then Ntinda school for the Deaf.
The activities started with introduction from different team memebers from both the schools and safe girl team memebers,then later procceded with the sessions about menstrfuation ,making of reusable sanitary pads and distribution of the SafeGirl kits.
CAMPAIGNS:
ST ANTHONY SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF
We kick started our first senstazation campaign,training and distribution of the reusable pads with St Anthony school for the deaf located in kamengo sub-county located in mpigi District.
We reached out 150 Girls and boys that were educated about menstrual hygiene and trained how to make reusable sanitary pads,as well as distributed 100 packs of SafeGirl Reusable pads.
ONE STOP CENTER FOR THE DISABILITIES:
In collaboration with Camsat, we conducted our second awareness campaign at the one stop center for the disabled in Masaka district,We were able to reach out to 250 women, Girls and men with knowledge about menstruation,training and distributed 200 packs of safegirl Reusable pads.
NTINDA SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF:
Still in partnership with camsat, we reached out to 200 Girls and boys at Ntinda school for the Deaf that is located in kampala-Ntinda.With the help of our team members who are Deaf,we were able to senstize about menstrual hygiene,training of reusable sanitary pads and Distribution of 200 packs of safegirl reusable sanitary pads.
In conclusion, safe girls together with other partners we have reached out to 6000 women,girls,boys and mens through conducting awareness campaigns,training of reuasble sanitary pads and distribution of 500 packs of safe girl reusable pads in two schools and one community. As we wrap up the Quater of this year,please stay alert for our monthly reports and progress which we hope to share with you soon.
