By Faith Nakayemba | Project Leader
Dear donors, family, friends and partners,
I feel delighted to report that 2020 amidst all the challenges concerning the Corona pandemic (Covid 19) has been a successful milestone for the Gejja Women Foundation
2020 marked our two years anniversary at our official location in Mpigi district, the women Centre. The year, amidst Covid 19, saw us grow and succeed in various projects and activities. The greatest achievement in 2020 was the official registration of our Safe Girl reusable sanitary pads by UNBS, a quality control body in Uganda. This will enable us to distribute Safe Girl pads throughout the country. Nevertheless, Covid 19 did not leave us completely untouched, and we experienced challenges in Safe Girl pad productions due to difficulties to have materials shipped to Uganda. Thus, we were only able to produce 20.000 reusable pads. In addition, the closing of schools due to Covid 19 heavily impacted our schools outreaches in 2020.
We used this situation to invest our time and resources into Agriculture project, growing more vegetables for the community market and engaging women and girls from different communities. Also, we initiated a Seed Loan Project, in which we trained 35 women in sustainable farming and distributed seeds for planting, with women sharing 10% of the profit with the organizations running. In this report, we would like to share these and many more milestones of 2020 with you. On this note, we also wish everyone a happy new year 2021 and are looking forward to further collaborations in this year.
