This project will provide support to homeless children and young people and children in prisons across Mombasa.
Glad's House work with the children and young people who are deemed 'too challenging' by the rest of society, those who everyone else has given up on. There are 1000s of children and young people living on the streets, in prisons and in communities that are not able to access adequate support for their emotional, health and educational needs. They are living in unsafe situations that put them at risk on a daily basis. Children and young people are forced to focus on surviving not thriving.
Glad's House is working to ensure that children and young people are able to grow up loved and in safety, should have the chance for an education, and should be supported to fulfil their potential. We ensure that children and young people can access an adult they can trust and who can offer them respite, support and protection. We also provided safe spaces for children and young people to play, engage in sport and learn.
As well as working with individuals we are advocating for the rights of children and young people on the streets, in prisons and in communities at a local, national and international level to create a lasting change for all children and young people in Mombasa so they are safer, better supported and have better life chances.
