At Safe Child Thailand, keeping vulnerable children safe means more than just removing them from risk, it means ensuring they have dedicated, secure spaces where they can play, heal, and bond with their friends and family. In communities facing severe hardship and displacement, children rarely have access to safe environments where they can simply drop their guard and be children. Through our ongoing Safe Spaces initiative, we work continuously to adapt local settings into protected spaces where children and young people can play with safe equipment and families can spend quality time together.
A key highlight of this first quarter has been the rollout of structured sensory play days. For children who have experienced trauma or instability, sensory activities, using fun toys, creative tools, and guided group games, offer a crucial therapeutic outlet. These activities help children process stress and regulate their emotions, while simultaneously building essential motor skills and encouraging social connection with their friends. Crucially, these play sessions also provide a supportive setting for parents to engage directly with their children, strengthening vital family bonds.
Because this project is actively ongoing, we are still fundraising to reach our full target for the year. The generous support received so far is already funding specialised sensory equipment, community play days, and the creation of safe spaces. Continuing to raise funds will allow us to expand these play zones to reach even more children across Thailand in the coming months, ensuring they have the secure, joyful childhood they deserve.
