This project will support the installation of safe, accessible play areas and equipment for children from rural areas of Thailand to develop social, physical and play-based skills.
Lack of access to safe play areas directly impacts opportunities for child development and holistic learning experiences. Rural schools and villages often have dilapidated areas designated to play, that are unsafe and pose significant risk to children's health and safety. In places with no designated playground, children play on railway tracks, construction sites, in farmland and on the side of roads and rivers.
This project is focused on providing refurbishment of dilapidate playgrounds, and installation of new play areas and equipment for kindergarten and primary school children. Playgrounds need safe, non-slip surfaces and levelled ground underfoot. They also need strong and secure fencing, giving children a protected space to play. By building designated areas, we can assure children are not playing in dangerous and unsanitary areas that risk their health and wellbeing.
Early Childhood is considered the most important stage for human resource development. It requires access to balanced, holistic, safe, and age-appropriate learning experiences. A key element is active learning through play, utilizing learning resources and materials that encourage children to actively participate in team games, engage with their imaginations, solve problems, and develop social skills like sharing and reciprocal dialogue, which will serve them into adulthood.
