LAST TERM OF THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR
It was a great school year that ended in June for all the children. Even though the results did not match our expectations:
• 02 young people obtained the CEP (First School Living Certificate),
• 13 had averages greater than or equal to 10,
• 07, unfortunately, will repeat the same class.
We are awaiting the results of 2 young adults who are at university.
THE POULTRY HOUSE
As part of our income-generating activities, we have built a poultry house for raising and selling chickens. This is a new experience for AGAPE Association.
A first batch of chickens has been raised and sold. The staff in charge of this activity learned a lot during this first cycle. The second cycle is underway, and chicken sales will begin around August 10. Help us spread the word: one chicken purchased = one donation to AGAPE.
FOOD COLLECTIONS
After months of negotiations, we were able to hold two food collections in front of a supermarket in Douala. Supervisors from AGAPE Center and a few children handed out flyers to raise awareness about our organization. During these two collections, we received numerous food donations. These initiatives enable us to reduce our monthly food costs, which are very high.
TWO STUDENTS FROM THE FRENCH BUSINESS SCHOOL EDHEC VISIT THE CENTRE
As part of our partnership with EDHEC, since the beginning of June, the AGAPE Centre has been hosting two students from the French university EDHEC, whose mission is to provide academic support to children and organize fun activities. With this in mind, they have enabled the children at the AGAPE Center to visit and participate in a screening followed by a conference led by a sports journalist, as well as a visit to the Arts Museum for an exhibition on the history of Cameroon. Several other activities are being carried out in parallel. These recreational activities contribute to the open-mindedness of the residents of AGAPE Center.
AFRICAN CHILDREN'S DAY
This day is celebrated on June 16 each year. It commemorates the young heroes of Soweto who protested in 1976 against inequality and injustice in education under the apartheid regime. The regional delegation of Social Services organizes meetings for all social structures. During these meetings, there are also fun activities for young people living in orphanages or shelters. As every year, the children of Agape Center participated in this important day.
SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
During July and August, some children are able to spend three to four weeks with their families. Some are currently on vacation, while others will be in August. It is important to AGAPE Association that children are not “cut off” from their families, whether they are parents, uncles and aunts, or grandparents.
PARTNERSHIP
We have received support from OPSAN and a few individuals who have donated food and clothing. However, the AGAPE Center still greatly needs your help and support, as the costs associated with feeding, caring for, and educating a growing number of children are considerable. In addition, the start of the school year is approaching.
NEXT SCHOOL YEAR
The next school year is fast approaching, and the number of children we support continues to grow. We are calling for action to enable these children, who did not ask to be in this situation, to return to school like other children their age. We estimate the cost of the next school year to be $6,000.
GLOBAL GIVING
GlobalGiving's fundraising campaigns are obviously very important to AGAPE. To this end, we took part in the July Bonus Day campaign.
We cannot conclude this report without expressing our deep gratitude to all of you who believe in and support this mission. THANK YOU!!!
