Vidya Poshak – GlobalGiving Report – 2nd Quarter (July – Sep 2018) 

Vidya Poshak, India is a registered Non-Government Organization (NGO), serving education community from 2001. We strongly believe Education is the solution for Ending Poverty. When we invest in a Young, economically challenged meritorious youth for a few years, we can break the poverty cycle of a family forever.

124 Students were supported with Library Services (Books + Counseling + Computers )

More than 120 students trained on different skill training programs

The following activities were conducted during the quarter as part of the KRC’s

  • WIN OR LOSE – WHAT DO YOU CHOOSE , A program for youth to strength their inner strength, self learning, facing challenges was inaugurated on 19th August 2018. This program is for 5 weeks.
  • Resume Writing and Tips for appearing for job interviews a seminar was arranged in our central library for the benefit of final year completed students during the month of July.
  • Book donation drive was conducted in all the Library branches by the student volunteers in the month of July and August 2018.

We whole heartedly appreciate your generosity in extending a helping hand to Vidya Poshak for the noble cause of nurturing meritorious but economically challenged students.

Knowledge Resource Center Updates

The following activities were conducted during the quarter as part of the KRC’s

  • Workshop on “MEMORY TECHNIQUES” was organized at Vidya Poshak Central Library, on 17th April 2018. Prof.C.C.Dixit was the resource person. 32 students of PU 2nd year have attended the workshop and made it a grand success by active participation.
  • With the support of Rotary Club Hubli conducted Career guidance training program for Youth volunteers in Hubli
  • As part of the Youth program students visited SUYOGASHRAMA (Hiriyara Mane) on 08/05/2018 Tuesday. The students distributed fruits & biscuits to the inmates and conversed with them for about 3 hours. They also handed over a cupboard sponsored by Mr Jayachandra Rao to the old age home.
  • Student Volunteers meet was held in Belgaum where more than 50 youth volunteers participated for planning the youth activities during the month of May 2018
  • In all the five libraries computers with internet facility were provided for the students to utilize the digital library facility and also for filling up the online forms for their examination and applying for job.

Following are the program highlights of Vidya Poshak Libraries during the first quarter 2018 

In all the five libraries computers with internet facility were provided for the students to utilize the digital library facility and also for filling up the online forms for their examination and applying for job.

On Jan 26th in all the libraries Republic day was celebrated and along with that youth social activities were conducted. More than 200 members have participated and swatch bharat event was conducted in Hubli, Sirsi, Davangere, Bijapur & Belgaum Library members.

Program outreach

During the quarter about 3900+ students were benefitted by the 6 libraries and about 500+ new books were added for the students usage.

The students studying in Class-11 & Class 12 were also provided a set of academic text books. Through this more than 200 students got benefitted.

Six Student Community Volunteering & Participation program were organized in the youth centers and more than 100 Student volunteers participated.

Six Skill training program on various topics of Employment readiness were conducted for the students studying degree courses.

  • 2157 students utilized the library facilities through our 6 library centers.
  • Four sessions on Mock Interviews & Group Discussion preparations  organized for the benefit of final year degree students. More than 200 students attended the session
  • As a pilot, Vidya Poshak will be venturing into a new initiative Nurturing Extracurricular Talent (NExT) from this year. The programme provides space for supporting deserving students in pursuing excellence in nonacademic areas. This year we are going to support in the field of music (Indian classical form), Sports (individual events only) and Dance (Indian forms).
  • Vidya Poshak Community (passed out students from Vidya Poshak) is conducting moral, social, and some activity related training program for 1 to 7th students in Sri Sharada Vidyamandira, Tippsandara, Bangalore. 
  • Chote Scientist program got initiated during the last quarter, Vidya Poshak student volunteers provided practical science training for class 7 students from 20 different government schools
