Protecting a Species on the Brink
Rhinos are among the world’s most iconic and endangered species. Across Africa, rhino populations continue to face immense pressure from poaching, habitat loss, and illegal wildlife trafficking. While conservation efforts have helped stabilise some populations, thousands of rhinos have been lost over the past decade due to the illegal demand for rhino horn.
Every rhino protected today represents hope for the future of the species.
Rhinos play a critical role in maintaining healthy ecosystems. As mega-herbivores, they shape landscapes, support biodiversity, and contribute to the balance of natural habitats that countless other species depend on. Protecting rhinos is not only about saving one species, it is about preserving entire ecosystems for future generations.
Because of supporters like you, this work continues.
A Message of Gratitude
We are beyond grateful to everyone who believes in our conservation efforts and supports our mission.
Behind every rhino protected is a dedicated team working tirelessly, often under incredibly difficult conditions. Our anti-poaching unit operates day and night, in soaking rain, on freezing cold mornings, during scorching heatwaves, and even through Christmas and family celebrations, all to ensure the safety of these iconic animals.
Their commitment and sacrifice are extraordinary.
It is deeply heartwarming to witness the encouragement and support they receive from people around the world who stand beside us in this mission.
Your generosity reminds our teams that they are not fighting this battle alone.
Strengthening Protection Through Technology
Thanks to donor support, we have been able to significantly improve our monitoring and protection systems.
This includes investments in:
These tools dramatically improve our ability to detect threats early, monitor rhino movements, and respond more effectively in the field.
Technology has become one of the most powerful allies in modern conservation, and your support has helped place these critical tools directly into the hands of those protecting rhinos every day.
The Future of Rhino Monitoring: Rouxcel AI Collars
One of our major conservation goals is to collar all of our rhinos with advanced Rouxcel collars.
These innovative AI-powered collars represent a major step forward in wildlife protection technology. The collars use intelligent monitoring systems capable of tracking rhino movement patterns and detecting unusual behaviour that may indicate danger or distress. Real-time data allows our teams to respond rapidly and proactively, improving both security and overall wildlife management.
By combining artificial intelligence with conservation, these collars help create a smarter, faster, and more effective protection network for rhinos in the wild.
Because of your donations, we have been able to secure funding for collars throughout 2026 and into part of 2027.
However, these collars have a limited operational lifespan of approximately two years before replacement is required, and in some cases, environmental conditions or damage can shorten their effectiveness even further. Continued support remains essential to ensure long-term protection for every rhino under our care.
Caring for Rhino Orphans
Our conservation efforts extend beyond protecting rhinos in the wild.
We are currently caring for five rhino orphans at our Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. These vulnerable calves require intensive, around-the-clock care, specialised nutrition, veterinary support, and long-term rehabilitation before they can eventually return to a safe environment.
The costs associated with their care are substantial, and urgent fundraising is needed to continue providing them with the support they deserve.
Each orphan represents both heartbreak and hope:
A Full Circle of Conservation
One of the most inspiring aspects of this journey has been seeing people from all walks of life come together in support of rhino conservation.
From caring for orphaned calves, to rehabilitation efforts, to protecting rhinos in the wild through anti-poaching operations and advanced technology, every contribution forms part of the full circle of conservation.
Together, we are not only protecting rhinos today, but helping secure a future where these magnificent animals can continue to roam Africa’s wild spaces for generations to come.
Thank you for standing with us.
Your support truly makes this work possible.
