We want to help 30 rainforest nations reverse deforestation by 2030 under the Paris Agreement, starting with Suriname and Honduras. We train countries how to measure and gather forest data, and report their forest conservation results to the UNFCCC, free of charge.
The 1.5 C climate ceiling is only 4 years away, and global rainforest deforestation is still a huge issue, according to the Global Carbon Project. Global emissions from deforestation currently accounts for approximately 10-12% of annual global greenhouse gas emissions. The world cannot slow the climate emergency without both decarbonization and a full reversal of global deforestation. We must reverse deforestation by 2030 under the only global framework, the Paris Agreement, Article 5.2.
The world can only reverse deforestation through national action. With our support, 30 rainforest nations will be able to slow and reverse deforestation. To achieve this, countries need both technical know how and climate finance from the private sector to conserve their forests. CfRN has twenty years of experience as a trusted partner of many developing countries. Once emission reductions are verified by the UNFCCC, we connect major banks and corporations to our countries to provide finance.
The project will help conserve tropical rainforests at national scale, protect wildlife habitats for thousands of endangered species, bring much needed finance to developing countries, their communities and citizens, and ultimately help transition countries to sustainable economies.
