Meet Delina

Girls in School Transition Programme enjoy break

Meet Delina, a fun-loving and happy young girl. She’s the firstborn of three and lives with her mother. Delina’s father left home during the COVID-19 outbreak, leaving the family when her mother was expecting a baby. During the Christmas holidays, Delina’s mother gave birth and later began experiencing complications. This left Delina no choice but to take care of her sick mother, younger siblings, and the newborn baby. The 10-year-old cleans, cooks, and washes clothes and takes care of everyone at home. Despite having all these responsibilities, she encourages herself to attend school at our Transition Class. Delina has been out of school for some time but has started her journey back to school in our Transition Programme. She will join the Fountains of Hope School in July. Delina is very active both in class and outside and never withdrawn. Despite continuing to face challenges, she has a strong positive will to make it through life.

Delina and her classmates will join the Fountains of Hope School in July which will make way for a new group of children to start their transition back to school. Our Social Workers are beginning the enrolment process now.

Thank you for contributing to Delina's transition back to school. If you would like to help more children get back to school, you can give today towards the new group of children who will join the programme in July.
