Retaining 60 most vulnerable children enrolled

5 Bridge Centers in Odisha will ensure retention of 60 most vulnerable children including deafblind children, children with multi sensory disabilities, and children with learning disabilities from poor economic background in school where trained volunteers and special educators at the bridge centers will provide specific need based academic support to the children to come at par with current academic demand ensuring sustainable education.

Once enrolled, children with learning and other multisensory disabilities often lose out on catching up with curriculum demand. The instructors also lack skills to teach the children with additional specific needs in a limited time frame increasing the possibilities of drop outs by the children. Aaina through this project will work with at least 60 such children who are at the verge of dropping out.


Five bridge centers will be developed in 5 selected schools to provide extra academic support to 60 children with learning and other impairments finding difficult to stay at par with the curriculum. Trained volunteers will be visiting the centers on daily basis. Two special educators will visit the bridge centers on rotation basis to provide specific academic support to the children. The center will run before or after school hours and

Long-Term Impact

A sustainable structure of skilled volunteers and special educators will be created to provide academia support to all children with disabilities in Ganjam district of Odisha. Children with learning disabilities will attend school with more confidence . The parents and community at large can rely on support structure to minimize academic gap of the children once enrolled in school leading to will develop more trust towards educational system.
