Restoring Hope to the Thirsty City

Challenge

Taiz faces a catastrophic water crisis. Destroyed infrastructure forces families to spend 40% of their income on expensive, unregulated water trucks. Children are pulled from school to trek miles for water, often from contaminated sources that cause Cholera. This burden traps thousands in a cycle of poverty and disease. In Taiz, clean water is no longer a basic right but an unaffordable luxury that costs families their health and children their education.

Solution

We will install high-efficiency solar pumping systems to provide 100% renewable, fuel-independent water directly to neighborhoods. This bypasses the expensive water truck market and ends the daily trek for children. Integrated filtration units will ensure every drop is safe, drastically reducing waterborne diseases. Finally, we will train a local Water Committee to manage and maintain the system, ensuring the infrastructure remains a community-owned asset for years to come.

Long-Term Impact

This pilot provides 1,500 people with 100% renewable water, eliminating the 40% income burden spent on water trucks. Families will redirect savings toward food, while children return to school instead of water queues. Training a local Water Committee ensures long-term maintenance and fuel-independence. This project creates a scalable model for green reconstruction in Taiz, fostering lasting economic stability and community resilience for generations to come.
