Dear Friends,
This quarter, life at Sambhali Trust’s boarding homes continued with its usual rhythm of school, studies, meals, health care, workshops, laughter, small challenges, and many moments of progress.
Through our three boarding homes — Laadli, Sheerni, and Abhayasthali — Sambhali Trust supported more than 85 girls and young women from vulnerable rural and border-region communities of Rajasthan. The girls received safe accommodation, education support, nutritious meals, health care, mentoring, and emotional care.
For many of them, these homes are the reason they are able to continue their education. Some come from families facing poverty, social difficulties, limited access to schools, or unstable home situations. A safe place to live makes a very real difference in their lives.
Laadli and Sheerni Boarding Homes support school-going girls from KG to Class 12. Abhayasthali supports young women who are pursuing college, higher education, and vocational training. Together, these homes give the girls not only shelter, but also routine, discipline, guidance, and confidence.
We are very happy to share that this quarter brought excellent academic results. The board examination pass rate was 100%. This is a proud moment for the girls, their tutors, and the entire boarding home team.
At Sheerni Boarding Home, the Class 10 results were especially encouraging. Kalpana scored 92%, Ravina scored 83.67%, and Pooja and Krishna both scored 81.50%. Noshin also scored 83% in Class 12 Arts. At Laadli Boarding Home, all girls from Class 8 and Class 10 passed with First Division. The young women at Abhayasthali also continued their college and semester studies with steady progress.
Along with academics, the girls took part in more than 25 workshops and awareness sessions during the quarter. These sessions covered health and hygiene, menstrual health, nutrition, cyber safety, prevention of child marriage, women’s rights, financial literacy, confidence building, emotional wellbeing, and environmental awareness.
These workshops are important because the girls need more than textbooks. They need life skills, awareness, and the confidence to make decisions for themselves.
The boarding homes also received support from volunteers, educators, and well-wishers from India and abroad. Mr. Klaus from Germany conducted a seven-day professional development workshop for tutors at Laadli Boarding Home. The sessions focused on student-centred teaching methods and classroom engagement. Volunteers from Switzerland and the USA also spent time with the girls at Sheerni Boarding Home, supporting learning activities and bringing warmth, encouragement, and cultural exchange.
Health remained an important part of the quarter. A full eye check-up camp was organised at Sheerni Boarding Home. Regular health monitoring also continued across all centres. Seasonal illnesses such as viral fever, chickenpox, and heat-related concerns were handled carefully by the staff.
With the beginning of the new academic session, the boarding homes again became full of activity. Books, uniforms, stationery, and school supplies were distributed so that the girls could begin the year properly and with confidence.
This quarter, we would also like to share the story of Kanchan, who lives at Sheerni Boarding Home.
Kanchan lost her father when she was only five years old. Her mother works as a farm labourer and has been raising five children on her own. Life has not been easy for the family. Through Sambhali Trust, Kanchan and her sisters were able to continue their education in a safe and supportive environment.
Today, Kanchan is one of the most enthusiastic students in her class. She dreams of joining the Indian Army one day so that she can support her family and make her mother proud.
Kanchan’s story reminds us why these boarding homes are so important. When a girl receives safety, education, regular meals, guidance, and emotional support, her life can take a very different direction.
We are deeply grateful to every donor, volunteer, educator, and supporter who continues to stand with these girls. Your support helps provide stability, opportunity, and hope to young women who deserve the chance to learn, grow, and build their own future.
With gratitude,
Sambhali Trust
