Summary

Help us to succeed in educating children who are suffering from physical abuse, sexual abuse and malnutrition. Children everywhere deserve assistance to overcome adversity in their lives. We have designed a multifaceted program for our 500 Guatemalan children. The Wellness Program includes medical assistance from our doctor, a psychological program from our recently hired Psychologist, an improved nutritional program, art therapy, breathing techniques, music therapy and a sports therapy program.

Challenge

Our students' lives were completely disrupted by the pandemic. They were not permitted by our government to attend school in person for 2 years. When they did return in January 2022, it became obvious that they had suffered from malnutrition, mental, physical and sexual abuse in numbers that we had not envisioned. Our challenge is to improve their mental and physical health. Provide help and hope.

Solution

Our Wellness Program will address each problem these children are suffering from. We will continue to provide free education to our 500 students, as well as address their psychological needs through workshops and individual therapy. The psychologist will provide seminars to the teachers to ensure they can identify students at risk, and give workshops to guide families to better parenting. We have a volunteer nutritionist who will improve our menu. Our doctor is continuing his work with our kids.

Long-Term Impact

Because of the creation of this program, our students will receive professional counseling that will enable them to deal with their daily challenges and continue to improve their lives through education. We have already seen that when we help a student become resilient and strong, they can then help their families to recover. When families improve the whole community does as well. We are changing the lives of 500 students by caring for them in a professional way with our Wellness Program.
