In Kakuma Refugee Camp, thousands of refugee families have lost everything to conflict and displacement. With reduced WFP food assistance, few livelihood opportunities, and widespread poverty, many parents struggle to provide even one meal a day. Your support will help 150 families rebuild their livelihoods, restore hope, and achieve lasting self-reliance.
Many refugee families in Kakuma have been displaced by conflict and have lost their homes, livelihoods, and sources of income. They face extreme poverty, food insecurity, and limited opportunities to earn a living. Cuts in WFP food assistance have made it even harder for families to meet their basic needs. There is an urgent need for skills training, livelihood opportunities, and support to help refugees build stable incomes and become more self-reliant.
Since 2023, GROW has supported more than 300 refugees in Kakuma through tailoring and garment-making training. Building on this experience, this project will equip vulnerable refugees, including women and men, with sewing and garment making skills, access to sewing machines and start-up kits, mentorship, and basic business skills. the project will help refugee families increase their income, improve food security, build resilience, and move toward greater self-reliance.
This project will help 150 vulnerable refugees turn practical skills into sustainable sources of income. By providing tailoring training, sewing machines, start-up support, and business mentorship, GROW will help participants establish and strengthen small businesses that can continue generating income long after the project ends. The impact will extend beyond the 150 participants. Increased household income will help families afford food, education, healthcare, and other basic needs.
