The last 8th May, Oír es Vivir foundation was celebrating 15 years of continous work, raising awareness about hearing health and helping kids with hearing handicaps, to improve their way to live inside a society of hearing people.
We have been looking to influence on schools and rural communities of Panama, leading specialists to achieve the early detection of hearing problems and due care after these, which also includes guidance and support to parents who often do not know how to deal with these problems.
So far this year we have seen a total of 148 children, and of these, 7 have required some treatment to improve their hearing.
In consideration of the fact that this is an invisible problem and requires wider dissemination, we have also been promoting the #Solo1minuto campaign in the media, schools, businesses and various institutions; to make us participate in the International Noise Awareness Day, which was celebrated this year on 26 April.
We want to thank you because your support has made it possible for us to continue our work of spreading and making present the importance of hearing health in Panama. With these actions we seek to talk openly about hearing problems, take them into greater consideration and take preventive care, when it is not too late. For this work, the foundation will be ready to provide the necessary care.
Best regards!
