Early Hearing Detection and Intervention is not usually done on all newborns in Panama. The Fundacion Oir es Vivir aims to do hearing detection in orphanages, child care centers, pre-school, and children to age six. In capturing hearing problems at an early age, and doing the appropriate intervention, such as the use of a hearing aid the child can lead a normal academic and behavioral progress, and become productive in his/her life. Quality of life improved!
Thanks to our work, we feel very excited that the @fundacionrafaelmezaayau has accepted our invitation, to learn about the local work we do, on its way to implement, in El Salvador, its #hearinghealth project. We were visited by Karen Massana, Director of Projects and Administration, Renata Martínez, Technical Projects and we also had the pleasant company of Elisa Gamero, Coordinator of Health and Nutrition Projects of the Office of the First Lady of El Salvador. We are happy to inspire causes beyond our border!
After a two years pause due to COVID-19, we were able to restart our hearing tour in Panama. In order to conmemorate the International Good Deeds Day, on saturday, April 2nd, the FOV's teams members and volunteers participated in this activity. In las Claras Abajo, Capira in the province of Panama Oeste, we were able to test more than 130 children and teach them and their families about hearing health. You can watch this video for more information on our tour: https://m.facebook.com/oiresvivir.pa/videos/ya-son-18-giras-que-hemos-realizado-en-diferentes-lugares-retirados-de-las-ciuda/493763599045852/?refsrc=deprecated&_rdr
We are staying active in our community and will be sharing more news soon!
