FOV DECEMBER 2019 NEWSLETTER

WE BRING HEARING HEALTH FOR 140 CHILDREN OF NEW CAIMITILLO

With the sponsorship of DELL and a group of enthusiastic volunteers from this company, spech therapist and otolaryngologist, we perform hearing exams for children in this community.

Ensuring that they hear well and be able to support them by attending to any anomaly in their hearing is vital for their good school performance.

The children attended included ages from months to 13 years and it was an excellent opportunity to educate their parents and teachers.  We invite other companies to sponsor tours as you are contacting us at 317-0562

80 CHILDREN ATTENDED AT SCHOOL TOGETHER WE CAN CURUNDÚ

Our “I LEARN LISTENING” Mobile Program carried out the otoscopy and hearing screening exams for the children of Curundu.

The anual review of your hearing is one of the recommendations we leave you.  Thanks to the support provided by the Bolsa Nacional de Productos, S.A. (BAISA) to make this possible.

OUR TEAM OF PROFESSIONALS IS UPDATED TO SERVE OUR PATIENTS BETTER

We attended the practial theoretical course of Auditory Electrophysiology, taught by Chilean specialists in medical technology with a specialty in otolaryngology.  Thanks to Hospitalar for the invitation.

WORKING IN JOINT WITH THE LIONS CLUB

Together with the Lions Club of Panama, we support a health day for Felipillo´s children, we carry auditory tests andd recommendations for the basic care of their hearing, which includes, among others, not putting anything in their ears, as well as moving away and protecting themselves from loud sounds.

IN 2019 WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE MAYOR OF PANAMA WE SERVE MORE THAN 2000 CHILDREN.

Villa Milagros School located at North Panama area, was one of the nine schools where we were able to take hearing tests to the children of Pre-school performance.  These tests are done in just minutes and yield immediate results!

WHAT IT MEANS WHEN CHILDREN COME TO PHASE II IN OUR CLINIC?

It means that they require additional tests to the auditory screening that we did in a mobile way and having not passed that initial test, they are referred for other exams that must be performed in the clinic.

It does not mean that the child already has a diagnosis of a situation in his hearing, it just means that it requires additional tests to be able to have a clear picture of why he did not pass that initial test and if there is any following recommendation what to do.  That is why we warn parents and teachers that if the child is “Referred” on our first visit, it is very important to bring him to the Foundation.  On this occasion we received the pleasant visit of the children of the Jerónino de la Ossa School who came to their second phase of the tests.

WAX IN THE EAR IS NORMAL BUT EXCESS IS NOT GOOD.

We remind you that we usually offer the otolaryngologist service on Saturdays from 8 am to 12 md, however, for the months of December and January we will not have medical care.  You can make your appointment request from now, dated February 1, 2020 onwards.  Enter www.fundacionoiresvivir.org and click Request an Appointment.

DID YOU KNOW THAT THE AUDIOMETRY IS CARRIED OUT IN A SONOAMORTIGUATED CABIN?

Excellent the initiative of the artist Armando Guillén @guillendo who visited us at the foundation to perform his audiometry control.  This was one of the artist who recently supported us in our Silent Art Auction and now becomes aware of the importance of caring for your hearing.

DONATION TO THE PANAMANIAN INSTITUTE FOR SPECIAL HABILITATION (IPHE) – OUR BOOK “KNOWING LORENZO”

A donation of 200 books “Knowing Lorenzo” to the Panamanian Institute for Special Habilitation (IPHE), which will be distributed among the IPHE Speech Audiologists, the new libraries that IPHE will have at the national level and the IPHE teachers.
