Greetings from STEPS NGO
Brief summary of the project's activities
About Project
The need for affordable good quality spectacles in rural and urban slum regions of India is massive. In a country whose population lives predominantly in slums and rural regions, accessibility and affordability of health care products and services, such as eye care, remains an issue. This program implemented in slums of Srikalahasti and surrounding villages which are drought pone, backward area in chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh state, India
Strategy: STEPS developed partnership with The Aloka VisionProgrammesupported by ZEISS, aims to change the landscape of vision care in such areas through entrepreneurial network, technology, innovation, quality spectacles and raising awareness for the benefits of clear vision.
Activities: Local entrepreneurs will be trained in basic eye care, screening of people and dispensing of spectacles as well as in entrepreneurial skills. Vision centre organize free eye camps and raising awareness for the benefits of clear vision. As per specifications quality spectacles will be manufactured and supplied to people on nominal cost by ZEISS, Aloka Vision Programme.Deactivation reason.
From last year Aloka have changed their strategy in providing support to NGOs. Instead of giving training to entrepreneurs, they will hire Optometrist for conducting camps which is purely commercial and for promoting their products. Now Aloka is not designed to be a philanthropic activity.
From the month of March 2020, due to Corona disease spreading surrounding Srikalahasti in Andhra Pradesh state, India, we could not able to organize Vision Correction camps. The technical person from CARL ZESIS, Bangalore could not able to come here for supporting the camp.Aloka stopped completely providing support to NGOs.
Even though this program is deactivated, you can support STEPS NGO other projects.
1. Health care and Awareness in 18 Indian slums
2. Cancer awareness and Screening of 3000 Indian women
Thank you for your generosity and I request you kindly donate and extend your support to the above projects
