HELP RESTORE EYESIGHTS TO 500 BANGLADESHIS PROJECT REPORT - September, 2013. Following a few awareness programs in the remote rural areas during the last two months, there has been an increased attendance of cataract patients at Karmirhath hospital at Gaibandha. Unlike previous years, patients are coming at their own initiative. It’s a good sign. Case Studies: 1. Halima Bewa: She is 95 years old, lives with one of her daughter who is also very poor. Halima had her cataract quite a few years ago. Being very poor, she could not get any proper treatment. As a result, she became almost blind. Last month, one of her kind-hearted neighbors brought her at Karmirhath hospital. At the hospital, all necessary tests were conducted and kept her there for operation of her cataract. Her cataract was removed from one eye through manual Phaco surgery on August 20, 2013. Cataract from her other eye will be removed next month. Since her admission at the hospital, she was given free treatment including operations, lens and medicines. She is very grateful to the donors. 2. Jasim Uddin: 90 years old. Developed cataract two years ago. Could not afford operation due to acute poverty. He came to Karmirhath hospital about 2 months ago. Cataract from his one eye was removed on August 20, 2013 through manual Phaco operation. Phaco operation will be performed on his other eye next month. All his treatment including operations, lens and medicines. He is very grateful to the donors who made possible his free treatment. The following documents are attached:
