The program provides disadvantaged communities with sustainable wellness education and practices. Its use of the science of mindfulness such as Yoga and Meditation, sports, arts and crafts, creative recycling, and journaling helps in developing resilience, improving self-care, inculcating positive coping strategies, and promoting positive social transformation. The goal is to train abused women beneficiaries to be mindfulness teachers to cultivate a culture that is independent and engaged.
With the constant need for more communities to use the science of mindfulness for their health and well-being which aids in developing particular life skills, only 50% of the communities that we serve receive regular classes due to a lack of skilled teachers. The lack of manpower limits the availability of our service, thus affecting the sustainability of our program. Having around 5000 beneficiaries, our priority is to train and empower community leaders and certify them as Mindfulness Coaches.
Through this project, the communities will be empowered to cultivate a culture that is independent and engaged. By training our beneficiaries to become mindfulness teachers, each community will have leaders who will implement the program even without us being present. This will strengthen communities' health, resiliency, and growth through regular mindful activities that will promote conscious behaviors and sustainable habits and lifestyles leading to a balanced and healthier society.
The program evolves from self-care to social action and will change communities as it provides resiliency, strength, and responsibility, and this can collectively develop values and disciplines that can help deal with personal, local, and global challenges including climate change. Mindfulness will keep beneficiaries healthy so that they can go out into the world and take care of others.
