Dear Supporters,
I can't begin to tell you how Action Change has been helping us in such a short time to make our project better and long term sustainable. When I sat down with Tyrone, the CEO a few months ago I also started to cry with the incredible way they work. The resources and support they offer us to develop our project is just incredible and I took every element seriously but with limited funding and resources we had to prioritise and I feel I prioritised one thing wrong... that was Risk Management, it was a high priority for Tyrone and I wish I pushed it up our list.
Last Sunday evening the most terrible incident happened where our Kennel Manager, a highly valued member of our team, was attacked by another animal while protecting our puppies. He was charged at by a pig with tusks that pulled open his leg and hit a main artery causing a serious bleed. Time was against us. We had less than 30 minutes to get him medical attention or he would have died. I still have visions now, I rushed him to the closest hospital but without medical cover we had no choice but to fund the treatment.
It was 9pm on a Sunday night and I didn't know what to do so I reached out to Tyrone and his crisis management along with the Action Change team was simply incredible that I couldn't help but cry. He needed urgent surgery and a plastic surgeon and although we don't have the funds in our project Tyrone immediately implemented a crisis and put it on his personal credit card, the total cost was just over $8,000 USD and while we know he can't afford it like everyone working in our industry I promised to do my utmost to fundraise to pay it back.
I know now that the support Action Change provide us is life-changing and while people might give me a negative feedback on social media for the situation, I really have taken it onboard and while rescuing the dogs is my priority I am open to help of Action Change and their skilled team to make sure we prevent and prepare for such disasters in the future.
Thankfully our team member that was attacked is now resting in hospital and recovering but it was the worst day for us, I am sorry to bring such terrible news and to ask you, our amazing supporters, for help once again. I promise to everyone that we will learn and do better and I am more motivated than ever! If anyone wants to know more then you can reach out to me by responding to this email or contacting hello@actionchange.org . I am sorry to have let you and Action Change down
Thank you
