Sudden floods and mudslides near Nepal's northern border swept away homes within seconds, devastating communities. Hundreds are dead and over 1,300 missing across multiple districts; in Rasuwa and Nuwakot alone nearly 800 locals are reported dead or missing. Infrastructure is shattered (bridges and highways destroyed), thousands displaced, and children orphaned. Console Mission will partner with the local army to coordinate safe evacuations and transport to Kathmandu. We will set up temporary shelter for 30 displaced children, women, and elderly, providing food, clean water, medical care, clothing, hygiene kits, and psychosocial support. Child protection teams will document identities, arrange guardianship, and enroll children in school. Transparent reporting and donor updates will ensure accountability and rapid scale-up. Funds will be tracked monthly.
Long-term impact: Displaced children and families gain stable shelter, protection, and access to education and healthcare. Within 12 months, 90% of children enrolled in school, 80% reunited or placed in guardianship, and 50% of adults engaged in livelihoods.
