Sundance is HOME. Sundance came to us over a year ago when a small equine rescue in the Texas Panhandle closed down. He was one of only two horses still left at the rescue that had not been adopted. So he came into the Easy R program and immediately went into a foster home.
After Sundance was with us for several months, we began wondering why this sweet, gentle boy had not been adopted yet. He gets along well with other horses. He is personable and likes human interaction. He's easy going and doesn't require anything extra other than joint supplements. Our guess is that he can't be ridden like he once was. He is ready for retirement due to some arthritis and joint discomfort.
We had promoted his bio on social media, advertised him through our equine community, encouraged people to meet him. But no takers. And now we know why. Because his PERFECT home was still out there and we just hadn't crossed paths. Yet. Until recently when a young family approached us about wanting a companion horse for their senior gelding. We showed them bios of our horses that we thought would be a good match for them. We encouraged them to look at a few rideable horses that they could take on trail rides or just down the country road by their home. But after looking at all our adoptable horses, they were drawn to Sundance. And after meeting him, they were convinced that he was the one they wanted to introduce to their horse and try at their home.
The rest is history, as they say. After a few squeals and half-hearted kicks, Sundance and their horse settled into an immediate friendship. Sundance also settled into the daily feeding routine without skipping a beat. And the absolute best part is the friendship Sundance has already formed with the little 2 year old boy of the family. Since he can't talk very well yet (only being 2), he calls Sundance "DanDan".
Congratulations "DanDan". And welcome to your forever home.
