Afghanistan is currently experiencing one of the fastest-growing humanitarian crises in the world on top of a decades-long protracted humanitarian crisis. Donate now to help us support children and families in Afghanistan and in crisis zones worldwide.
Updated March 7, 2023: The de facto authorities' ban on female NGO workers in Afghanistan, first issued on December 24, remains in place. Negotiations have allowed the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to resume and expand operations in new provinces and sectors, including health, nutrition, education, emergency response, economic recovery and development, and environmental health.
The International Rescue Committee has provided vital support to Afghans who have endured four decades of violent conflict, as well as natural disasters and the spread of COVID-19. The IRC has operated in Afghanistan since 1988, reaching more than one million Afghans each year providing multi-sector emergency support. The IRC's work has focused on education, protection, economic wellbeing, and health. We are also assisting Afghan refugees who have been resettled in the U.S.
The IRC has worked in Afghanistan through three decades of crisis, providing millions of people with shelter, education, clean water, health support and other aid. Your gift allows us to deliver comprehensive help to people affected by humanitarian crises around the world, and will be used where and when most needed.
