Family dynamics has a big impact on a family's wellbeing. When a member(s) has autism, designing, implementing and managing a structured, predictable environment, and routine improves day to day living for all. We provide our families and caregivers tailor-made personal advice, guidance and intervention strategies to address their family dynamics. We have re-invented our services to help and accompany our families meet their needs, while ensuring our community stays safe, healthy and productive.
2020 lockdowns are taking place under an ongoing severe humanitarian crisis in Venezuela and according to the USUN Rome-Mission, "officially rendering it the poorest country in Latin America and the Caribbean". How do we creatively and cost effectively ensure the wellbeing of our families and their loved ones with autism, today and in the future? For many people with autism, we are the only educational alternative in Venezuela. In 2019 we served directly 589 families. We must continue to do so.
Inspired by our community's resilience and support we have implemented new programs and cost-reduction initiatives to increase our services reach and scope. Through creative thinking we are addressing challenges by providing 3 new family oriented remote services, respite and assessment services at our facilities and developing e-learning training. In addition, we have prepared our facilities to comply with COVID protocols and are ready to re-open school operations as soon as it is safe.
Continue to operate, provide and develop educational services to address the developmental needs of those with autism, with access to need-based financial support for all. In the face of hardship, our community has chosen the path of resilience. We are committed to moving forward, learning, improving, and being a role model for those living with autism. We seek to develop the skills of children/teens with autism and their families, in order to facilitate their effective integration into society.
