Program Background and Objectives

This project aims to provide children in kindergartens and elementary school in areas with scarce educational resources (focusing on rural areas in central and western China and communities with a high concentration of left-behind children) with high-quality picture book reading accompaniment in the form of remote video accompaniment by volunteers to enhance children's interest in early reading and their language skills, and to make up for the gap in family educational resources.

Project implementation progress

A. Demand research and accurate matching:

In-depth research on the needs of beneficiary groups.

Building a two-way matching system for children-volunteers.

Scientific illustrated book list and graded book list system construction.

B. Stage-by-stage sustainable model validation:

Activating the autonomous initiative of the teacher community;

Activate the volunteer community ecology;

Running through the closed loop of "demand research - resource customization - remote service - effect tracking", providing a methodology for large-scale replication.

Work Plan for the Second Half of the Year

The project team will continue to work on the precise response to demand and content suitability, so that each remote reading session will become a window to a wider world for children.

Formally launch the companion reading service, and carry out volunteer supervision and quality monitoring.

Tracking and feedback analysis of children's reading interest;

Continuous optimization: iterating the book list according to the feedback from the accompanying readers.
