Vulnerable women

By Catharina van den Bosch | Director

Keeping mothers and babies together
Keeping mothers and babies together

How can I survive? I had a baby and the father of my child has left us...How can I find work with a baby? The heart break of some young women......often resulting in the abandonment of their baby. Fortunately in a few cases we have been able to assist these vulnerable women, giving them some clothes and helping them to set up a little business, so that they can provide for their little baby.

Abused, raped, abandoned, childbirth injuries, Victims of HIV/AIDS, child marriage, unwanted pregnancy, traficking......

All of the above issues makes women extremely vulnerable...a lot of these women are hiding themselves from their community because they have lost their self-worth and are feeling ashamed and freightened.

We have been working with these women in the past by introducing self-hlp groups led by a psychologist. In these groups women discover that they are not alone, we try to empower them, in the groups they talk, cry and laugh together and slowly these women get back on their feet.

We have seen these women grow and starting their own little businesses and most important, reaching out to others in the same situation.

Unfortunately due to lack of funding we had to discontinue this project last year. The regional women affairs has been asking us to re-start the project....but to find the adequate funding for this activity has been difficult.

We want to thank our donors for their contribution for this important project, eventhough we haven't raised enough to start the full project, it enables us to help the individual women and every woman that we can help is worth it!
