REHABILITATING 9000 INMATES; Saving Families.
On delivering the message of successful transformation of her son Emeka, his mother danced and shed tears of joy.
Emeka is a 20 year old boy who is under incarceration for nefarious activities, a
is one of our clients in a correctional centers in Umuahia. He has been coached in football and he's looking forward to being discharged when he shall be fully employed to become a professional footballer.
Emeka is one of our youth clients in Champions For Humanity Development Initiative (C4HDI) who had shown keen interest in sports and our coaches sported him for higher endeavours. Being a transformed youth from our project, he sends messages across to his peers that he no longer smokes naming the ills associated with drugs. He is one of our beneficiaries out of many who are benefiting from our sports and coaching sector.
INFLATION AFFECTING OUR ZEAL AND VISITS TO THE INCARCERATED.
The sky rocketing prices of goods and services in my community is affecting our zeal in work. Recently, there's another world known increase in petrol and petroleum products in Nigeria. It didn't stop of from delivering our services to our youth clients in incarceration but it only affected our power to convince other service givers to us. Our coaching consultants are demanding for more salaries which is evidently affected by the increase in pump prices of petrol in my local community. We have since analyzed this in our SMART TOOL and chosen the solution of more campaigns to able to render our services to our clients. We have known from the results that we are succeeding. More than a quarter of our clients have been well trained in their various fields and about 10% of that shall be discharged soon. In general, there has been a decline in youth nefarious activities in Umuahia axis due to our project and about 1% less the rate and number of youth being incarcerated.
DISCHARGED INCARCERATED INMATES EAGER TO PERFORM.
Some recently discharged incarcerated youth who have been trained and coached in sporting activities are eager to perform in field and show the skills we taught them. C4HDI is making frantic efforts to organize friendly matches to accommodate them. The youth which constitutes about 60% of our populations would have the opportunity to watch these released youth play in the field. Part of the fund realized from these matches form their salaries and so we understand their eagerness completely. Occasionally, C4HDI also organize social get together to accommodate the newly released incarcerated youth in my local community but for now, we are handicapped as our budget dissipates faster.
CREATING BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR THE INTERACTED INMATES.
Our clients together with local authorities, officers of the correctional centers and stakeholders are highly supportive of our project as it produces positive impacts to the youth and others in my local community. Emeka, the aforementioned client, promised to train about 25 youth on his release from incarceration. When interviewed, he revealed that he would do that by bringing his group back together to ensure that they embark on sporting which he shall gladly help in teaching them. This shall surely add gusto to the increased sustainable social active in my local community.
C4HDI is grateful to our donors and others for helping perfecting and scaling our project.
On behalf of all, our staff, volunteers and stakeholders, we say a big thank you again.
