Dear Donors and Supporters,
We hope this report finds you well. We want to express our gratitude for your continued support of our project, "Empower refugees in Zimbabwe to plant 50,000 trees," a refugee-led initiative under the Refugee Coalition for Climate Action (RCCA) that combating environmental degradation and climate change in Zimbabwe's Tongogara Settlement.
Since the beginning of our project in January 2024, we have made significant progress in our efforts to plant 50,000 trees and educate the community on climate-smart food production. As of today, we have planted over 1000 varieties of trees and we have raised 2500 trees currently standing at our nursery garden. We have educated 10 young people on nursery management and seed production. This effort has enhanced the greening of public centers, improved food and nutrition security in 50 households, and enhanced the ecological and seed care skills of 10 young people.
Our work will not only benefit the environment but also foster community-based adaptation and resilience from the diversification of food production.
We would like to share a story about one of our constituents, a young refugee named Jacqueline from Burundi, who has been actively involved in our tree-planting initiative. Jacqueline's dedication to the project has inspired other young refugees in the community to get involved. For the last six months, Jacqueline has been in the team that managed our nursery garden and she has been a key leader in mobilizing our community members to plant trees and take care of those trees at their homes. Her commitment to our course is a testament to how young people can be a change agent in adversity like climate crisis.
We appreciate your continued support and encouragement. Your donations have made a significant difference in the lives of the refugees and the host community. We look forward to continuing our work together to achieve our goal of planting 50,000 trees and creating a more sustainable future for all in Tongogara Refugee Settlement by 2030.
We are grateful for your generous support!
Sincere regards,
