Help 20 Refugee Teens in Malaysia Earn Their GED

Thanks to your incredible generosity, this project has been 100% funded—and even exceeded its goal! We are overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who gave to make this possible.

For refugee teenagers in Malaysia, one of the greatest barriers to earning a high school diploma is not ability—it's cost. The fees associated with the GED exams are simply out of reach for most refugee families. Because of your support, our first cohort of 20 students will now be able to take their official GED exams free of charge, removing one of the biggest obstacles standing between them and a brighter future.

The timing of your generosity could not have been better. Just last month, all 20 students completed their GED Ready practice exams, which determine whether they are prepared for the official test. Despite the cost of these assessments (approximately $160 USD total), every student was able to participate. Even more exciting, our students earned an average score of 150 in both Math and English—well above the 145-point benchmark required to qualify for the official GED exams.

With those results in hand, we have already begun sending our highest-scoring students to take the real GED ($90 per test). We're thrilled to report that every student who has tested so far has passed, giving us a 100% pass rate in these early stages.

These results represent much more than passing an exam. Each passing score opens the door to higher education, better employment opportunities, and renewed hope for refugee young adults who have spent much of their lives without access to formal education.
