Reforestation: Bringing the Trees Back to Life

Quick update from the reforestation front—thank you for being part of this!

Thanks to amazing support from 36 donors, we’ve now raised $3,275 of our $4,500 goal. That means just $1,225 left to fully fund our current phase of planting and nurturing trees in degraded forest areas.

Here’s what your support is enabling:

Since we began, our teams have:

• Set up tree nurseries, preparing seedlings in regions hit hardest by deforestation.

• Helped replant native tree species in degraded areas to fight soil erosion, revive wildlife habitats, and combat climate change—with reforestation contributing around 10% of global climate solutions.

• Run community workshops on forest care, tree planting, and preserving at-risk areas to build local commitment and long-term success.

These efforts are more than planting trees—they’re connecting communities to their environment, creating stable ecosystems, and restoring natural filtration of air and water .

We’re excited by how far we’ve come—but there’s still more to do. With just over $1,200 to go, here’s what the next phase includes:

• Expanding nursery capacity to grow more seedlings

• Organizing additional planting days in targeted deforestation sites

• Running outreach events to build ongoing community stewardship

Deforestation remains a pressing global issue, contributing approximately 10% to climate change and global warming. Between 1990 and 2020, the world lost an estimated 420 million hectares of forest, an area roughly the size of the European Union.This loss not only exacerbates climate change but also leads to land degradation, increased natural disasters, and the destruction of critical natural habitats. In response, our project has been dedicated to preserving large forest areas and reforesting affected regions to mitigate these adverse effects.

Our initiative aims to replant trees in degrades areas, ensure sufficient land use, preserve at risk forest regions and educate communities on the impacts of climate change and the significance of forests.We have also established nurseries in severely degraded zones, conducted awareness campaigns, and provided necessary equipment and operational support for global reforestation efforts.

Despite global commitments to reduce deforestation, recent data indicates that forest loss continues at an alarming rate. In 2023, global deforestation increased to 6.4 million hectares, surpassing levels prior to the 140-country pledge to end deforestation by 2030.  This underscores the urgency of our mission and the need for continued efforts in forest conservation and restoration.

We plan to:

1.Expand Partnerships: Collaborate with governmental and non-governmental organizations to pool resources and expertise.

2.Enhance Education: Develop comprehensive educational programs to foster a deeper understanding of the importance of forests.

3.Innovate Practices: Adopt new technologies and methodologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of reforestation efforts.
