After a lovely South American summer, students in Chile are back in the classroom and ready for an exciting year! On March 1, Chile began the implementation of its iconic "New Public Education Law." This legislation brings public schools under the administration of the Ministry of Education instead of individual municipalities with widely varying resources and expertise. Public schools will be managed by regional offices called "Servicios Locales de Educación (SLE)." Educación 2020 has partnered with the very first SLE office in Barrancas, which is known for its committment to educational innovation. Through this partnership, Educación 2020 will implement Tutorial Relationships in three vulnerable schools in the Barrancas district during the 2018 school year. Tutorial Relationships is an educational movement that builds learning networks based on dialogue, reflection and community. Students learning through Tutorial Relationships demonstrate improved self-confidence, critical thinking, reading comprehension, and communication skills. Educación is currently training 400 teachers throughout the country to revolutionize their classrooms through Tutorial Relationships, and with your help we will be able to continue this exciting process!
Thank you for your continued support.
Un abrazo,
The Educación 2020 Team
