Plastic waste is polluting communities across Ghana, blocking drains, contaminating rivers, and increasing the risk of flooding and disease. This project will recycle 100 tons of plastic waste by organizing community clean-up campaigns, establishing plastic collection points, educating residents on proper waste management, and partnering with licensed recycling companies. The project will help create cleaner communities, protect the environment, and promote sustainable recycling practices.
Plastic pollution is a growing environmental challenge in Ghana. Poor waste disposal and limited recycling services cause plastic waste to accumulate in streets, markets, waterways, and public spaces. Blocked drains contribute to flooding, while polluted environments increase health risks and damage ecosystems. Many communities also lack awareness and access to effective recycling systems, allowing valuable recyclable materials to go to waste.
The project will mobilize volunteers, schools, youth groups, and community members to collect plastic waste through regular clean-up campaigns.
