The Build a Skate Park in Zambia project was initiated as an effort to provide a recreational facility for young people in order to create an outlet for them to. It was envisioned that a skate park would accord young people the opportunity to focus their energy on positive activities which would in return help channel their activities into positive ones.
The lack of recreational facilities leaves young people to their devices. This has often resulted in youths engaging in negative activities often resulting in among other things alcohol and drug abuse , teenage pregnancy and even juvenile delinquency.
It was expected the proposed park would help channel young people’s creativity and provide an outlet for their energy helping to keep them away from negative activities.
At this stage we have acquired a piece of land as well as support with designing the park however we have been unable to secure the required funding. While the need for the project remains and its goals and objectives remain unchanged, without the required funding, it is impossible to proceed with the project as planned.
The objective now is to review our strategy, enlist more people to help and launch the project at a later time when there is adequate support for it.
